Bamberg is the Franconian center of beer. As many as 10 breweries are located in the city area and about 80 around it. Most of the breweries have their own pub where it is possible not only to drink beer but also to try the local specialties.
In addition to this, there are many beergardens in and around Bamberg that add to the atmosphere of the city. They even have their own kind of beer, the Rauchbier. As the Rauchbier of dark-red colour is brewed in a particular way, it tastes different from the beer as you know it.
